The Great North Run (25 10 06) We would like to extend a huge thank you to all who sponsored the GFS team on the Great North Run. Miles Bradbourne (pictured) is one of 100 children in the UK to have an incurable illness M.P.S. 1 Hurler Syndrome. This tragic condition leads to an early death. When Miles was born there was no indication that anything was wrong, his condition was revealed at the age of 1 when he was rushed to hospital after having a fit. The terminal illness suffocates all the soft tissue in the body. Doctors thought that Miles would never walk but already he has defied them by walking and making a good effort to talk! Miles is now 4 years old and has a very short life left so mum Naomi has set up a trust fund to make his few remaining years ones to remember. Unfortunately on the 18th  September last year Miles' uncle, Reuben Wilson, died running the Great North Run raising funds for Miles. This year on the Sunday 1st October, the rest of the family and Reuben¹s close friends ran the race to finish it for Reuben.We would like to thank everyone who sponsored the team and is helping raise over £4000 which will help create a safe play area for Miles and reduce any trip areas in and around the house. |
